Directions:
- Chop your apples into small chunks and place in a pot. Fill the pot with some water and allow apples to cook on a medium heat until suuuper soft (when they no longer resemble apples)
Tips and tricks:
- Add the stewed apples to breakfast, smoothies or consume as an afternoon snack with coconut yoghurt and seeds!
- Warm the stewed apples up for a winter treat
- Making a big batch at the beginning of the week to consume each day for added fibre and health benefits.
-You can add some delicious granola ontop for a deconstructed apple crumble.
Benefits:
- Stewing your apples releases a fibre called pectin which is beneficial for your gut health. Apple pectin is a fantastic fiber and helps to feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut! It may also destroy some of the bad bacteria too. Apple pectin helps to regulate blood sugar levels, regulate cholesterol and can be good for constipation or diarrhoea prone individuals.
- Apple pectin also helps to increase butyrate levels in the gut which supports your intestinal lining, reduces inflammation and plays a major role in your metabolism.
